The Wind Waker HD ported to Android - Zelda remaster from Wii U runs without an emulator

News

Enthusiasts continue to port classic Nintendo games to smartphones.

An unofficial native port of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD has been released for Android. The project is based on a re-compilation of the Wii U version: upon first launch, the application extracts files from the user's own game image and compiles the code directly on the smartphone.

The mobile version uses Vulkan and supports on-screen buttons, external controllers, and gyroscope-assisted aiming. Resolution settings, five save state slots, import and export of saves are available, and on devices with Adreno, alternative graphics drivers can be installed.

In addition, the port supports frame generation via LSFG. This requires the Lossless.dll file, which is suggested to be taken from your own copy of Lossless Scaling purchased on Steam.

To run, Android 11 or newer, ARM64, Vulkan 1.1, and about 2 GB of free space are required. An image and keys for your own American or European version of the game are also necessary.
