The creators of the new "RoboCop" pulled out their main trump card - Paul Verhoeven himself joined the series

Earlier, the screenwriters of the original 1987 film were already involved in the project.

Paul Verhoeven, who directed the cult 1987 film "RoboCop," is involved in the new series for Prime Video. Executive producer James Wan announced this at the Blumfest panel during New York Comic-Con — though he did not specify Verhoeven's exact role in the project.

It was also previously reported that the screenwriters of the first film, Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner, were brought into the project. However, both serve as executive producers, while Peter Ocko, who worked on "Lodge 49," is the screenwriter and showrunner.

The main role will be played by Dan Stevens, known for the series "Legion" and "Downton Abbey". According to Wan, the team feels "incredibly happy" because they managed to find the perfect actor for the new embodiment of the cyborg police officer.

Filming is planned to begin in spring 2027, but the premiere date has not yet been announced.
