The story centers on the vampire king Akabara Strauss, who lost his kingdom and beloved many centuries ago. Humans could not kill the queen, so they sealed her away and then created thousands of false seals to hide the real one. Since then, Strauss has been trying to find his beloved, while fending off dhampirs — descendants of humans and vampires who continue to hunt him.

The anime is being produced by studios Zero-G and Liber. Mankyu, who previously directed "Migi & Dali," is serving as director and screenwriter. The music is composed by Evan Call, known for "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" and "Violet Evergarden".
