Haunted Chocolatier is a game for those "who go down into the mines in Stardew Valley"
Work on ConcernedApe's new game is slowly progressing.
Recently, Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone, also known as ConcernedApe, spoke with GQ. During the interview, he talked about working on his next project called Haunted Chocolatier.
As before, ConcernedApe is working on Haunted Chocolatier alone (with the exception of marketing). The developer believes that there is a special artistic purity in creativity born in solitude, so he doesn't even let his wife near the game:
No one will play this game until I'm ready to show it. If you have a turkey baking in the oven, you wouldn't take it out early to offer guests a taste, would you? It has to be ready.
According to the developer, Haunted Chocolatier will be more of an action-RPG than a farm simulator — the main focus is on adventure, finding equipment, and increasing strength:
There are monsters, boss battles. It's for those who go down into the mines in Stardew Valley. Honestly, that's how I play myself.
Haunted Chocolatier currently has no specific release date or window. ConcernedApe is not going to rush the game's release; he intends to present the highest quality project possible. He also hasn't forgotten about Stardew Valley: the game continues to receive updates.
