Intergalactic, like GTA VI, is a monument to a bygone era. Former Naughty Dog developer explained the change in the gaming industry

Former Naughty Dog developer Matt Radford believes that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet could become a handcrafted masterpiece and one of the last monuments of the era before the widespread adoption of AI.

In an interview on the Kiwi Talkz channel, he compared the upcoming game to historical cathedrals, such as Cologne Cathedral. In his opinion, they inspire admiration for the scale and talent of the craftsmen who spent years creating them by hand. Today, repeating something similar would be difficult even with modern technology.

Radford believes that a similar fate awaits the gaming industry. In a few years, players will fondly remember Uncharted 4 and Intergalactic, realizing how much work of writers, actors, and artists went into every detail, model, and animation.

The development of artificial intelligence and algorithms is changing game production, and the era of ultra-expensive projects with budgets ranging from 300 to 600 million dollars may soon end.
