Square Enix Wants to Squeeze the Maximum Out of Switch 2 for New Final Fantasy VII

Square Enix expects to improve the graphics and optimization of Final Fantasy VII Revelation on Nintendo Switch 2 compared to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, despite the increased scale of the new game.

Series director Naoki Hamaguchi told Nintendo Everything that porting Rebirth to Switch 2 was a valuable experience for the team. Without it, simultaneous development of the next installment for different platforms would have been much more difficult.

Now the studio intends to use the acquired knowledge to achieve high image quality even on a less powerful device. This is not about mechanically increasing graphic settings, but about improving optimization.

Although the team is satisfied with the results of Rebirth, they want to go further. At the same time, Square Enix is not going to allow development for several platforms at once to negatively affect the quality of the game.
