According to insider James Mack, an alternate version of Tony Stark will appear in “Avengers: Secret Wars”, which will be vastly different from Robert Downey Jr.’s hero:
“A variant of Tony Stark will be involved in the storyline of ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’. He is described as ‘indifferent, lazy, hating being a hero, and suffering from alcoholism’.”
The insider does not specify who will play Stark from another universe. Robert Downey Jr. has already returned to the MCU as Victor von Doom, but the studio has not yet confirmed Tony Stark’s return in any form.
The premiere of “Avengers: Secret Wars” is scheduled for December 17, 2027.
