Awaken: Astral Blade tells the story of a girl named Tanya, whose body has been modified in scientific experiments. On behalf of her creator, Dr. Herveus, she sets off to Horace Island — a territory where the anomalous Carpas energy has transformed flora and fauna into aggressive mutants. Initially, her task seems routine — to find a missing research team, but the expedition quickly turns into a nightmare.
The Astral Blade combat system is inspired by Dead Cells and ICEY. Players will have to calculate timings, build combos, consider positioning, and react quickly to enemy attacks. Dodging, counterattacks, and special moves with time dilation are important in combat. As Tanya progresses, she gains new abilities and enhances existing ones.
On Steam, users praise the combat mechanics, visual style, and sound design, but note the controversial presentation of the plot and some monotony.
The mobile version will feature adapted controls, gamepad support, and all the main content of the original. The developers have also reduced the amount of mandatory backtracking. In addition, players will be able to lower the difficulty level if necessary to make the game easier to complete.
Awaken: Astral Blade will be released on the App Store on September 26, 2025.
