Refunding games on PS5 and PS4 via the PlayStation Store has long been a source of frustration for players. Previously, the process was complicated: you had to contact support, submit requests, and wait for a decision that could be negative. Many players turned to consumer protection organizations, demanding changes.

Now, it seems players have "won." Sony has significantly simplified the procedure: a "Request Refund" function has appeared, allowing you to independently submit a refund request directly in the PlayStation Store – without communicating with chat bots or support. It works through the website and the PS App, and the process is faster through the app. Simply open the PS Store, go to the menu in the upper right corner, select "Transaction History," and click on the purchase to request a refund.

A refund is only possible in certain cases: within 14 days of purchase and if the game has not yet been downloaded. This simplification is a significant plus for players. Sony notes that this is just the beginning of improvements to the PlayStation Store: new features will be coming soon, including Apple Pay, a rating system based on verified purchases, and new accessibility tags for PS5.
