Ubisoft Financial Disaster? Company Sold Five Atari Franchises
Ubisoft is looking for money and making unexpected moves. The company is struggling with serious financial problems, as the sales results of recent major products have not met management's expectations. The situation has forced the publisher to look for additional sources of income.
Ubisoft has unexpectedly decided to sell five Atari brands. The list includes Cold Fear, I Am Alive, Child of Eden, Grow Home and its sequel Grow Up.
Atari has acquired full rights to the brands, promising not only their re-releases, but also expansion to new platforms and other distribution channels. Atari's Vice President emphasized that "now there is a chance to bring back memories for old fans."
The deal includes a variety of projects. Cold Fear is a 2005 horror survival game. I Am Alive is a post-apocalyptic vision of survival. Child of Eden was a unique audiovisual experience. Grow Home and Grow Up are warmly received platformers.
