Kaiju No. 8 The Game is a mobile gacha in the turn-based role-playing game genre with tactical battles and scenes recreating key moments from the original anime and manga. The project also offers additional story content exclusive to the game. Production I.G, the studio responsible for the anime adaptation, worked on the visual part.
The game includes several modes: "Main Story," which repeats the events of the anime, "Memories" with iconic scenes, as well as original chapters dedicated to both familiar and new characters. One of the novelties of the game is the CLOZER organization, a special squad that explores spatial rifts. The team is led by Sagan Shinomiya, Kikoru's foster sister, voiced by Akaria Kito. The squad also includes Chester Lockburn and Suited, who are responsible for support on the battlefield.
Battles take place in a turn-based format. Players form a squad of four characters, use skills and finishing moves to destroy the "kaiju heart." The progression system allows you to improve characteristics, abilities, and equipment. The in-game Unipart R&D system is used to create items, and materials are obtained in special missions.
Kaiju No. 8 The Game is distributed for free, but is monetized through gacha mechanics. The game is not available in the Russian region, although its page on Steam remains open. The PC version will be released later, and the release date has not yet been announced. The project will not support the Russian language at the start.
After a successful pre-registration campaign involving more than one million people, the developers prepared bonuses - a free five-star rarity character and a set of in-game currency.
