After more than four years of waiting, the mobile version of Riot Games' and Tencent's tactical shooter Valorant officially launched in China on August 19, 2025. According to research firm Niko Partners, the country saw a record number of pre-registrations before launch — over 70 million. This became one of the largest marketing figures in the history of the Chinese mobile gaming market.
Immediately after release, Valorant Mobile topped the download charts on iOS and entered the top 10 in revenue among mobile games. According to Appmagic estimates, the game generated about $8.2 million in two weeks and was downloaded almost 3.9 million times.
Tencent, the publisher of the mobile version of Valorant (and the parent company of Riot Games), has announced plans to invest 1.5 billion yuan (approximately $200 million) over three years to support further development and the creation of an esports ecosystem. Initiatives include the launch of a national Chinese league, student tournaments, and partnerships with technology brands to host major events.
Valorant Mobile offers gameplay familiar from the "older" version, with a set of 18 agents and eight game modes, including popular maps from the original. Riot and Tencent have not disclosed the timing of the global release, but it is expected to take place later.
