Hollow Knight: Silksong Utilizes Switch 2 Pro Controller in Unusual Ways
Hollow Knight: Silksong fully unlocks the capabilities of the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, offering players an unusually immersive experience thanks to haptic feedback and hardware integration.
One of the most discussed features is the rain simulation. When it rains in Silksong, the controller not only reproduces a subtle HD vibration, felt as water droplets falling on the ground, but also emits a faint sound resembling the sound of rain. Players call this "natural feedback": the effect is so organic that you only notice it in its absence. The high level of detail has led many to admit that the Pro Controller 2 is the best way to experience the game compared to third-party options without advanced vibration.
Switch 2 delivers 120 fps in handheld mode at 1080p, and in dock mode, 4K at 60 FPS with Variable Refresh Rate support. Assigning buttons on the back panel proved useful for complex platforming elements: players can bind movements to the rear buttons for smooth execution of downward diagonal strikes.
But the impressions are not always positive. The D-pad is criticized for inaccuracy and input errors, which is important for an accurate 2D platformer. Others noted issues with analog stick return and "soft" buttons, leading some to prefer Joy-Con 2 controllers or controllers from other brands, such as 8BitDo, for greater accuracy.
But most agree: the Switch 2 Pro Controller creates a unique atmosphere in Silksong. The combination of high performance and precise haptic feedback makes it a true demonstration of Nintendo's new hardware capabilities, even if the physical elements require refinement.
