The cast of the new "Highlander" from Amazon and Chad Stahelski continues to grow with new names.
According to Deadline, Chinese actor and martial artist Max Zhang has joined the cast of the "Highlander" remake being prepared by Amazon MGM Studios. He will join an already impressive team that includes Henry Cavill, Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, and Dave Bautista.
The exact role the actor will play has not yet been announced, but he will likely play another new immortal - apparently from China. Previously,Djimon Hounsou joined the project as an immortal warrior from Africa.
Zhang began his career as a stuntman, participating in the filming of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", and then gained recognition for his roles in the films "The Grandmaster", "SPL II: A Time for Consequences", "Ip Man 3" and "Master Z: Ip Man Legacy", where his partners were Michelle Yeoh, Tony Jaa and Bautista himself. He made his Hollywood debut in the blockbuster "Pacific Rim: Uprising".
The "Highlander" remake will be a reinterpretation of the original 1986 film starring Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery. The script was written by Michael Finch ("John Wick 4"), and the producers are Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt from United Artists, as well as Neal H. Moritz, Josh Davis and Louise Rosner. Stahelski's 87Eleven Entertainment team is responsible for the production.
Earlier, the directorhinted that the premiere could take place in 2027-2028, but the final date has not yet been announced.
