Amazon is working on a God of War series, and a list of actors allegedly being considered for the role of Kratos has appeared online.
Amazon is actively developing a series based on God of War. Despite the lack of official casting news, a supposed list of actors being considered for the main role has appeared online. The source of the information is John Campea, a film critic, blogger, and insider who has previously made accurate predictions, including the casting of Keanu Reeves in "Sonic the Hedgehog 3" and details of the film "Spider-Man: No Way Home."
In a recent video, Campea stated that he had heard from his sources about ten possible candidates for the role of Kratos. The list includes:
- Christopher Judge (voice of Kratos in Sony's God of War)
- Jason Momoa ("Aquaman")
- Dave Bautista ("Guardians of the Galaxy")
- Winston Duke ("Black Panther")
- Joe Manganiello ("One Piece")
- Travis Fimmel ("Vikings")
- Manu Bennett (The Hobbit trilogy)
- Olivier Richters ("Jack Reacher")
- Henry Cavill ("The Witcher")
- Paul Levesque (wrestler)
Campea noted that the actor playing Kratos should have two key qualities. First, he should look like a mature and hardened warrior. And secondly, he should be of impressive size and strength to look truly formidable.
At the same time, Campea left a mystery, essentially mixing fan "wants" and real rumors received from colleagues in the industry. None of the actors have been officially approved yet, as the project is in a very early stage of production.
The God of War series has been in development by Amazon since 2022. After a change of showrunner (Ronald D. Moore replaced Rafe Judkins), the show underwent a creative reboot and now follows the plot of the 2018 game — the story of Kratos and his son Atreus in the Scandinavian world. Earlier this year, Moore reported that the script is not yet complete, and filming may not start until 2026. Accordingly, the release is not expected before 2027.
