Developers from Zenovia Interactive have decided to move the release of Neon Inferno by almost two months: the new release date is November 20. According to the authors, the key factor was the desire to release the game simultaneously on all declared platforms — PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC.
According to Zenovia's creative director Shri Kankanahalli, the main work on the game is completed, but the launch requires coordination with platform holders and distributors. The team considered a phased release, but eventually abandoned this idea.
The postponement was called a "small but useful delay": the extra time will be spent on final polishing, and possibly on adding content originally planned for a post-release update.
Neon Inferno is a hybrid of a classic 2D shooter in the spirit of Contra and a gallery shooter a la Wild Guns. Players fight in the crumbling New York of the future, choosing one of two heroes — Angelo or Mariana — and engage in battle with corrupt police and rival gangs.
The key feature of the project is two-plane shooting: enemies can be attacked both in the foreground and in the background. The Bullet Time system allows you to reflect projectiles and redirect them back into enemies. In addition, the game offers upgrades between missions, a cooperative mode and classic arcade difficulty — up to completing it on one "credit."
