The new installment of Hyrule Warriors serves as a prequel to Tears of the Kingdom and will be released exclusively on Switch 2 on November 6.
As part of the September Nintendo Direct, a fresh trailer for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, a large-scale action game in the Zelda universe, was presented. The project develops the ideas of its predecessors in the "musou" genre and opens a new page in the history of Hyrule, transporting players to the era of the Seal War.
This time, the main role is given to Princess Zelda, who travels through time and unites with Rauru, the first king of Hyrule, to stop the impending evil. Other iconic characters will also appear among the allies, and Ganondorf will once again be the main antagonist.
Development is being handled by Koei Tecmo in partnership with AAA Games Studio and with the participation of Nintendo. Key innovations include synchronous attacks with partners (Sync Strikes) and the use of Zonai devices in battles. These elements are inspired by Tears of the Kingdom, but reinterpreted for the Hyrule Warriors combat mechanics.
The game supports co-op for two players on a split screen, as well as via GameShare — without the need to purchase a second copy.
