You won't have to wait three years for Deltarune Chapter 5, but development still takes time.
Deltarune Chapter 5 will be released in the second half of 2026, as announced by the project's author, Toby Fox, in a recent address to fans. Development is ongoing, but a full release is still a long way off: a significant portion of the content is still in the early stages.
The updated release window was announced in a publication on the Fangamer website, timed to coincide with the tenth anniversary of Undertale. Fox noted that the beginning of Chapter 5 is already complete, but overall it is only partially finished: about 40% of the content is in the first pass stage, and another 10% is in the form of prototypes. Most of the cutscenes are also not yet complete.
However, compared to previous chapters, the break will be noticeably shorter: from the release of the fourth part in 2025 to the release of the next, about a year and a half will pass - this will be the shortest interval between chapters during the entire development of Deltarune.
Fox also added that almost all the monsters for Chapter 5 are ready, and the team has begun preliminary work on Chapter 6. However, translation, testing and final polishing will take a lot of time - so a release in the first half of 2026 is excluded.
