Artificial intelligence continues to penetrate the gaming industry, despite a wave of discontent from players. Sega, the publisher of the Yakuza series, has officially confirmed plans to use generative AI in development.

The company has posted a job vacancy that explicitly states: the new position focuses on AI projects that will cover both new and existing games. The specialist is expected to participate in the formation of a long-term AI strategy for Rovio, interact with the marketing, multimedia, and technology departments, and explore the latest developments in this field. Sega also emphasizes close cooperation between the European and Japanese divisions within a unified AI program.

Generative artificial intelligence is causing particular controversy. This technology creates texts, images, music, and code based on huge arrays of existing data, and many believe that this approach kills real innovation.

Critics also point to another problem — the threat to jobs. Bill Gates and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang have spoken about the danger. According to them, AI is capable of displacing most professions, and companies are actively moving towards this future.

Yakuza fans met the news extremely negatively. Forums are filled with calls to abandon support for Sega: "Well, here's another game company I'm done with."
