Nintendo has unexpectedly released a new mobile game in the Fire Emblem universe. The project is called Fire Emblem Shadows and is a genre hybrid of tactical RPG and social deduction.
Players participate in battles in teams of three, but one of them turns out to be a hidden traitor. In the first stage of the battle, everyone acts as allies, but after the victory, the participants vote to determine who among them is the so-called "shadow apprentice." If the team guesses correctly, the final battle becomes easier. If they are wrong, it becomes more difficult.
The development of Fire Emblem Shadows was handled by Intelligent Systems, which traditionally is responsible for the main series. Despite the experimental format, the game retains the recognizable aesthetics of the franchise, the class system, and elements of role-playing progression.
Early players note that, despite its apparent simplicity, the gameplay offers sufficient tactical depth, and all characters are unlocked for free, without the use of gacha.
The project is distributed under a free-to-play model and is available for download in the App Store and Google Play. In-game purchases are provided, including a season pass. The game is not available in the Russian segment of mobile markets, so bypassing regional restrictions may be required for downloading.
