Not only large franchises get screen adaptations. A mini-series based on the boss-rush action game from the French indie studio The Game Bakers is on the way.
Midnight Embers has presented the first teaser for the screen adaptation of the action game Furi from The Game Bakers studio.
The main role is played by Barty Shepherd, who is also the writer and showrunner of the project. Shepherd rarely appears in films and is better known as an actor at the Royal Opera in London, where he practiced stage combat. The series, based on a game entirely consisting of battles with bosses, focuses on staged fights.
He is joined in the project by Yannick Ganty (The Voice), James Ainsworth (The Chain and The Hand), Julian London (The Line), Olivia Jannesson (The Song), Ermar Alexander (The Line), Fabio Miale (The Edge), Tamaira Hesson (The Beat) and Charlie Griffiths (The Star). The full cast is listed by Superhero Hype, but there may be inaccuracies in the published list: the boss The Line is mentioned twice, while the performers of the roles of The Scale, The Strap, and The Burst are not indicated.
The original game was released on Steam in July 2016 and received 90% positive reviews based on more than 10,000 user reviews. Furi is also available on PlayStation 4/5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
The series' creators emphasize that the project was created in close collaboration with the original developers to preserve the spirit of the original source. The plot tells the story of a Silent Warrior in a red cloak, who is freed from an interdimensional prison by a mysterious rabbit-masked companion. The hero sets out to destroy the jailers and get out.
The mini-series is scheduled to premiere on November 8.
