Tests have started for Valor Mortis, a new game from the Polish studio One More Level, known for the hit Ghostrunner. Players have had the opportunity to see a fragment of gameplay.
A 30-minute video of the early version of the game, running on Unreal Engine 5 with RTX 5090 in 4K, has appeared online. Initial feedback is positive: users note the impressive graphics, dark setting, and demanding combat system, reminiscent of Witchfire, Dark Souls, and Sekiro.
Valor Mortis is a first-person soulslike where the player controls William, a soldier of Napoleon's Grande Armée, brought back to life after death, infected with a mysterious plague. The action takes place in an alternate 19th-century Europe among ruins and battlefields, where mutated monsters roam. The developers promise a combat system with parrying, dodging, brutal executions, and supernatural abilities of the hero associated with the curse.
The new material demonstrates not only battles with monsters, but also the character's mobility and the dynamics of combat in the style of Ghostrunner. The developers emphasize that each death is a lesson, after which the player gains new skills and learns to better use their powers.
The release date for Valor Mortis has not yet been announced.
