The second season of X-Men '97 will be released in the summer of 2026, but the story won't end there.
Earlier, Marvel's Head of Streaming, Brad Winderbaum, said that the studio plans to release projects like Daredevil, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and X-Men '97 annually, as long as there is audience interest. However, Marvel strictly adheres to official formalities, so it was only at the recent Comic Con in New York that confirmation was made: the X-Men '97 animated series has been renewed for a third season, and the premiere date for the second has been announced — it will be released in the summer of 2026 on Disney+.
The animated series, which started in March 2024, continues the plot of the original X-Men, which ended in 1997. The first season finale left the heroes scattered across different eras: Cyclops and Jean Grey ended up in the distant future (3960), while Magneto, Professor X, Beast, and others ended up in Ancient Egypt, where they encountered a young version of Apocalypse.
As the trailer shown at Comic Con reveals, the second season will continue this storyline, and the heroes will have to find their way back to the 1990s. Marvel has not yet officially released the trailer, but convention attendees have already posted a "screen version" of it on YouTube — you can check it out at the following link.
