The new mode in Marvel Rivals has caused a sharp increase in the number of players on Steam — the largest in recent times.
With the release of the fourth season, which added Daredevil and Angela, the number of players remained stable. Although the current figures are lower than the record 644,269 in the first season, the game remains one of the most popular on the platform. Last week saw a noticeable increase, comparable to the start of the season, thanks to the new mode.
The Marvel Zombies mode is based on comics and a new animated series, where users fight AI opponents, which almost doubled the number of players. According to SteamDB, at the beginning of the week, Marvel Rivals maintained a normal rate of 75–80 thousand players, having decreased after the start of season 4.5. On October 23, the number of players jumped to 120 thousand, almost twice as much as the day before, and remained high for the following days.
Reddit forums confirm the growing interest: players are actively praising the mode. Some, such as user Living-Ad102, want it to become permanent. Given that PvE has been requested since the game's release, the surge is hardly surprising. NetEase clearly plans to continue hosting similar events. Those who want to participate should hurry before mid-November, before Marvel Zombies is removed.
