Ahead of the premiere of the fourth season of "The Witcher" on Netflix, showrunner Lauren Hissrich commented on a line from the trailer that sparked a storm of discussion among fans.
After the release of the official trailer, viewers noticed one phrase uttered by Liam Hemsworth, who appeared as Geralt of Rivia for the first time. In the heat of battle, the hero says: «Let’s ****** move!» — and this line instantly sparked a wave of criticism on social networks.
Viewers noted that the White Wolf spoke «like a character from Call of Duty» and accused the authors of completely losing the spirit of the original.
Showrunner of the series Lauren Hissrich commented on the audience's reaction for the first time. In an interview with Radio Times, she admitted that the scale of the discussion came as a surprise to her, and stressed that she did not consider the phrase inappropriate.
«In the context of the battle, this phrase is fully justified. This is a powerful moment, and I think it sounds cool. Someone might say: “That’s not what my Geralt would say.” But that’s exactly what our Geralt would say. The line fits perfectly into the scene, so I look forward to viewers seeing it in context. I think it works pretty well».
However, it will be possible to see whether this phrase works in context very soon. The fourth season of "The Witcher" will be released today, October 30, and will soon be available for home viewing.
