An ambitious developer decided to tell a story of revenge set in the Middle Ages.
The role-playing game Tales of Old Dominus in a medieval setting was recently released.
The project was mostly done by one person, with only "some parts programmed and written by friends."
It presents the story of Eric, who embarks on a path of revenge after a failed rebellion and the kidnapping of his sister:
When corrupt aristocrats proclaimed the Right of the First Night, a rebellion began. The poor and some aristocrats united and started a desperate war that ended with the Battle of Brides. The rebels were slaughtered, and the remnants of their forces scattered. You are one of those survivors - Eric of Voldham, who returned to his village and saw it burned to the ground, the inhabitants killed, and his sister taken by the attackers.
The game features a dynamic survival system: you need to provide your character with food, water, and warmth. You can fight in both melee and ranged combat. Eric can also try to act stealthily.
Eric's ascent will begin with a forest camp. Create everything from bolts and arrows to clothing. Improve and manage villages, towns, and even fortresses. Attract new residents, earn money, and hire fighters to lead them into battle later. But remember that loyalty has a price.
