However, there are certain limitations.
Epic Games Store has introduced an option to gift games to friends. Users have been waiting for it since the platform's launch back in 2018.
Now, on the game pages, next to the "Buy Now", "Wishlist", and "Cart" buttons, a new one has appeared: "Buy as a gift".
After purchasing the gift, the recipient has 14 days to accept it. If they already have the game or decline the gift, the money will automatically be returned to the sender. Gifts can only be sent to friends.
However, there are limitations: gifts are currently only within the same region — attempting to send to another will cause an error at the payment stage. Epic promises to add cross-regional gifts in a future update. Also, gifts are purchased individually for each friend.
At this rate of implementing new functionality, Epic Games Store has a chance to someday catch up with Steam.
