The new animated series adapts the second campaign of the Critical Role show on Dungeons & Dragons.
On November 19, the animated series «The Mighty Nein», adapting the second campaign of the popular Critical Role show on Dungeons & Dragons, premiered on Prime Video.
Its events unfold two decades after «The Legend of Vox Machina» and are dedicated to a new group of exiles and fugitives who must unite when a powerful artifact called the Beacon ends up in the wrong hands. The heroes need to learn to work together to save the kingdom and prevent the destruction of reality itself.
At the time of publication, the series has a 100% freshness rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 96% user rating. Critics note the expressive images of the characters, high-quality animation and emotional depth worthy of an adaptation of Dungeons & Dragons.
At the same time, the reviews mention protracted episodes — the result of the authors' desire to pay more attention to the development of the characters and avoid the shortcomings of «The Legend of Vox Machina». However, not all viewers accepted the more relaxed pace of the narrative.
Permanent members of Critical Role returned to their roles: Laura Bailey, Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Matthew Mercer and Liam O’Brien.
The first three episodes out of eight are now available on Prime Video. New episodes will be released weekly. Even before the premiere, Amazon extended «The Mighty Nein» for a second season, details of which have not yet been disclosed.
