The problem arose on the game's release day, when some EA App users encountered an error that caused the launcher to report that they did not own Battlefield 6. The situation reached Battlefield series head Vince Zampella, who advised to "use Steam," but the error was soon fixed.
As an apology, EA promised to distribute XP boosters and a seasonal battle pass to all those affected. According to reports on Reddit and Discord, the compensation has only just begun to arrive — more than a month after release. Players note that the bonuses are arriving in the Battlefield 6 internal mailbox, and those who have not yet received anything are advised to check the "Inbox" section the next time they launch the game.
However, some users claim to have only received XP boosters, while the promised battle passes are missing. This has sparked a new wave of criticism towards the publisher, although many still hope to receive full compensation.
Despite the technical difficulties on release day, Battlefield 6 became the best-selling shooter of the year. According to Alinea Analytics, the game sold over 6.5 million copies by October 15, and total sales may be approaching 10 million.
