The ARMSX2 team, developers of the new PlayStation 2 emulator for Android, announced that the application will soon receive online multiplayer support. This will be a significant advantage over the popular AetherSX2 and NetherSX2 solutions, which do not support multiplayer.
Along with network game support, the update will add a new user interface, an updated PCSX2 core, and support for custom graphics drivers. The latter can improve performance and stability compared to standard drivers. This is especially important for ARMSX2, as the emulator is still slower than AetherSX2 and NetherSX2 due to the translation of x86 code to the Arm architecture.
The team also confirmed the development of the ARMSX PS1 emulator, which will be a fork of the PSXE project. The application will get its own interface, support for virtual memory cards, a save state function, and will be released on Google Play.
The exact release date of the update has not yet been announced.
