Nintendo has published a special information page dedicated to Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, the new chapter in the iconic series, which will be released on December 4, 2025, on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

The material gathers key information: a brief history of the franchise, the differences between the classic 2D Metroid games and the 3D Metroid Prime series, the plot of Beyond, as well as a description of new mechanics and technical capabilities.

Nintendo emphasizes that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will be the first completely new game in the main line in 18 years — since the release of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.

The developers note that knowledge of previous installments is not required. The game opens a new story that begins with an accident at a Galactic Federation research center. After the disaster, Samus Aran and several soldiers find themselves on the mysterious planet Bayrus, where they must unite to return home. Players will find a variety of biomes — from jungles and deserts to industrial zones filled with lava.

Nintendo has described the gameplay in detail: first-person exploration, scanning objects, studying the environment, and battling enemies. As before, success depends on the ability to use Samus' abilities, including a new psychic power that allows you to remotely activate mechanisms. Special emphasis is placed on the "Viola" motorcycle, which allows you to explore vast areas faster and use special techniques in combat.

The company also introduced difficulty levels. A "casual" mode is available for beginners — enemies have less health, and the damage Samus receives is reduced. The "normal" mode maintains a balance between exploration and battles, corresponding to the classic parts of the series. After completing the game on standard difficulty, fans will be able to test themselves on "high", where enemies are more dangerous and resources are scarcer.

Nintendo has also added advanced settings for customization: players can adjust the sensitivity of sticks and mouse (the version for Switch 2 supports a mode in which the Joy-Con works as a mouse), change the screen brightness and volume.
