It is not specified which games suddenly began to threaten the well-being of young Britons.
The UK Information Commissioner's Office has announced the launch of a new investigation into 10 "popular mobile games" to assess how well they protect children.
The specific titles of the games are not disclosed, but the regulator said it will check default privacy settings, geolocation management, targeted advertising practices and "any other privacy issues identified during the review".
According to the regulator, about 90% of children in the UK use digital devices, and 84% of parents express concern that their children may be harassed online or shown harmful content. At the same time, 30% of children stopped playing mobile games due to concerns about the collection and use of their data, and three-quarters of parents worry about what data about children is collected by game companies and how they are shown advertising.
