The platform is regularly criticized by the authorities of various countries, including the United States.
The Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) has blocked the Roblox gaming platform in Russia.
In an official statement, the agency said that the platform is replete with content that "may negatively affect the spiritual and moral development of children."
A Roblox representative said in a comment to Reuters:
We respect the laws and regulations of the countries in which we operate, and we believe that Roblox provides a positive space for learning, creativity and communication for all users. We are deeply committed to safety and apply a comprehensive set of proactive and preventive measures to identify and block malicious content on our platform.
At the time of the blocking, there were millions of players from Russia on Roblox. The region was considered one of the most active and engaged.
