“The Apothecary Diaries” franchise continues to expand.
Live-action adaptations of anime and manga are booming, and now “The Apothecary Diaries” is joining them. Mana Ashida, who starred in “Pacific Rim” as a child and recently voiced the main character in Mamoru Hosoda's “Belle,” will play the main role of Maomao in the upcoming film. The role of Jinshi went to Kota Nomura, known for the series “My Dress-Up Darling.”
In addition to the names of the lead actors, neither the production studio nor the release date of the film have been revealed yet. It is only known that the project is in active preparation and will be the first full-length adaptation of the popular franchise.
Earlier, TOHO Animation announced the release dates for the third season of “The Apothecary Diaries”: the first part will be released in October 2026, and the second in April 2027. In addition, the premiere of a full-length anime based on the franchise will take place in Japan in December 2026, and its international release is expected in early 2027.
