The adaptation of the Scandinavian saga God of War is gradually gaining details.
It recently became known that active preparation for the production of Amazon's God of War series is already underway in Vancouver, and casting for the main roles of Kratos and Atreus has begun. The first episodes will be directed by Frederick E.O. Toye — a director who has worked on individual episodes of "The Boys", "Fallout", and "Shōgun".
Now, according to insider Daniel Richtman, Amazon Studios is in talks with actors Max Parker and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, who may play the roles of Baldur and Thor, respectively.
Max Parker is known for the series "Doctor Who" and "Casualty", but the role of Baldur could be the biggest in his career. Fans have already noted the actor's physical resemblance to the version of the character from God of War (2018). Parker is in excellent physical shape, which is an important factor, because Baldur's battle with Kratos is considered one of the most spectacular in the game.
Icelandic Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, who is 52 years old, is known for the series "Severance" and "The Thing About Pam". Viewers also consider him an excellent candidate for the role of Thor — the actor impresses with a height of 1.9 meters, a powerful physique, and a thick red beard.
Filming of God of War is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026. The premiere date has not yet been revealed, but based on the production schedule, it should not be expected any earlier than 2027.
