Filming for the fifth and final season of \"The Witcher\" has concluded, and now it has been revealed who was responsible for the direction and scripts of the concluding chapter of the saga from Netflix.
The fifth season of \"The Witcher\" from Netflix is currently in post-production. Filming took place in the UK in early 2025, and the scripts were ready last summer. As it became known, the final season was filmed by only three directors for the first time in the history of the series.
The first, seventh, and eighth episodes were directed by Jeremy Webb, who worked on \"The Last of Us\" and the final episodes of the fourth season of \"The Witcher\". The third and fourth episodes were entrusted to Christopher Clark Cowen, who previously worked on action scenes in \"Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings\" and \"The Acolyte,\" and also worked in the fourth season of \"The Witcher\" as an assistant to the main director — this will be his debut as the main director. The fifth and sixth episodes were filmed by Alex Garcia Lopez, who participated in the creation of the first season and returned to the project in the fourth.
The writing team was led by showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich — the author of the script for the very first episode of the series and now the final episode of the fifth season. Together with her, Javier Grillo-Marxuach, Tera Vale Ragan, Troy Dangerfield, Claire Higgins, Rae Benjamin, Matthew D’Ambrosio, Tanya Lotia, and Mike Ostrowski worked on the script.
The premiere date for the fifth season has not yet been revealed. The release is expected in 2026.
