Sony continues to bring its franchises to mobile platforms.
Following a trial launch of the arena shooter in the Ratchet & Clank universe in Southeast Asian countries, Sony has introduced a new mobile project — the free-to-play MLB The Show Mobile for iOS and Android. The game is based on the famous baseball simulator series but has been developed as a standalone project from scratch.
MLB The Show Mobile retains the spirit of the original but offers a format adapted for short gaming sessions. The game features single-player and PvP modes, as well as a collectible card system that includes over 1,100 baseball players from past and present years. The card mechanics are reminiscent of Ultimate Team from the EA Sports series: players assemble a roster, trade on the market, and upgrade athletes, improving their stats.
The mobile version is being developed by San Diego Studio, which has been responsible for the MLB The Show series since 2006. The project does not support crossplay with console versions and is currently only available in the Philippines, but Sony plans to expand the release to other regions in the future.
