Not all heroes may survive the events of "Doomsday".
Actor Sebastian Stan, who played Bucky Barnes, gave a grim hint about the development of events in the upcoming movie "Avengers: Doomsday". During his speech at Tokyo Comic-Con 2025, he evasively answered a question about the fate of Marvel heroes: "I can't say too much... Let's see who survives and who doesn't."
This remark instantly fueled fan theories about the upcoming losses in "Avengers: Doomsday", which directors Anthony and Joe Russo describe as "the largest MCU event."
Fans speculate that Bucky Barnes may become one of the victims. Against the background of rumors about Chris Evans' return to the role of Steve Rogers, many believe that Bucky will sacrifice himself for a friend. Other potential victims include Thor, Loki, and Professor X, who will be played again by Patrick Stewart.
In addition, Stan himself previously hinted at the imminent completion of his arc in Marvel, noting that the franchise helped him "grow as an actor," but now he is looking for new roles. These words only reinforced the suspicions of fans who are sure that his character may not live to see "Secret Wars."
"Avengers: Doomsday" will be released on December 18, 2026. The film will be the first film of the finale of the Sixth Phase of the MCU and will bring together 27 actors, including Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Anthony Mackie, Simu Liu and James Marsden, but Marvel plans to keep the full cast secret until the release.
