Work on the "Mutant Mayhem" sequel is actively progressing, despite the premiere being postponed by almost a year.
Although "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2" has faced a significant delay, production is steadily moving towards completion. In an interview with ScreenRant, director Jeff Rowe said that the team recently held an internal screening of a rough version of the film, and the reaction to it was "extremely positive."
According to Rowe, the project is "moving from the creation stage to the execution stage," and the team is striving to maintain the same energy that made the first film successful. The sequel will have an updated visual style but will remain true to the original's signature aesthetic. Plot details are being kept secret, but it has already been confirmed that the main antagonist will be Shredder, who was hinted at in the ending of the first part.
Initially, "Mutant Mayhem 2" was scheduled for release in October 2026, but the release was postponed to September 2027.
The news of progress comes amid active reshuffles in the franchise. Paramount recently confirmed the development of a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film from "Sonic the Hedgehog" producer Neal Moritz, scheduled for November 2028. This project is described as a "family" version of the story, while the dark adaptation of the comic "The Last Ronin" is temporarily frozen.
