Panic Stations studio has presented Frog Sqwad — a cooperative extraction platformer with an emphasis on physics and chaotic team gameplay. The game is designed for cooperative play with up to eight people.
Players will have to storm sewers, mine food, and overcome traps in order to make it back to the swamp and feed the insatiable Swamp King. The basis of the gameplay is the classic extraction loop — resource gathering, evacuation, and preparation for the next run. With each day, the King's appetites grow, and failure to meet the daily quota threatens the team with becoming dinner themselves.
The choice of frogs as the main characters is no accident. The game mechanics are directly tied to physics and allow you to actively use the long frog tongue — to cling to each other and to elements of the environment, drag food, catapult and solve puzzles. For successful raids, players receive gold, which can be spent on toys and gadgets that give an advantage in subsequent runs.
The developers themselves compare Frog Sqwad to Lethal Company, Content Warning, Fall Guys and R.E.P.O., focusing on unpredictable situations and fun interaction within the team. The exact release date has not yet been announced.
