The studio did not specify exact dates but shared a video with key innovations from the alpha test.
Bungie has officially revealed the release date for its team-based first-person extraction shooter Marathon. The game will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam) in March 2026 for $39.99 / €39.99 / £34.99.
The developers promise many free updates during the year after launch, including new maps, Runner shells, events, and more. The first season will focus on exploring the Cryo-archive of the UESC Marathon ship. Details about the seasonal content will be revealed closer to release.
Bungie also published a 23-minute video dedicated to key innovations:
- Proximity chat. The developers initially did not want to add it, explaining this by the fight against toxicity, but now, presumably, Bungie has changed its mind
- The world has become deeper and darker. Greater emphasis on storytelling through environments. The important role of sound design
- Four zones: three on land and one on the UESC Marathon ship (endgame)
- Faction quests. Players may be asked to steal something important or blow up a UESC landing craft
