Sandfall Interactive has released update 1.5.0 for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, expanding the endgame and significantly raising the difficulty bar. The main topic of discussion has been the new bosses in the "Endless Tower" mode — according to some in the community, these are the most merciless opponents in the entire game.
The studio has introduced enhanced versions of familiar bosses, including Simon and Kleia. These variations have gained additional phases, increased health bars, and attacks capable of wiping out a fully upgraded party with a single mistake.
Simon in the Divergent Star version has sparked particularly much discussion. Initially considered the most difficult secret boss in the main game, he now causes even more controversy — some players call the fight "unfair" and compare the new opponents to the difficulty of the Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
However, unlike the DLC for Elden Ring, where the increased difficulty affected mandatory content, the new Clair Obscur bosses are completely optional. According to the developers, they were originally created as challenges for the most prepared players, and the community's reaction confirms this intention.
Nevertheless, videos of playthroughs on maximum difficulty without taking damage have already appeared.
In addition to the Endless Tower mode, the update added new costumes for all expedition members, weapons, luminaries, and a luminary set system, allowing you to save up to 50 builds. A full-fledged photo mode, a quick battle restart function, and a new location — Verso Sketches, available in the third act — have also appeared.
