Matthew McConaughey's investment in AI and his agreement with ElevenLabs did not affect the development of Exodus.
Archetype Entertainment, a studio founded by veterans of the Mass Effect series, is not using generative AI in the development of the sci-fi RPG Exodus. This was revealed in an interview with Eurogamer by studio co-founder Chad Robertson, who emphasized that the team has no plans to use such technologies in any form.
According to Robertson, the rejection of generative AI is a conscious step. The developers strive to ensure quality and maintain artistic control, relying on traditional production methods. He admits that the studio's position may change in the future if deadlines, budget, or the use of AI become an industry standard, but at the current stage, Exodus is created entirely by human hands.
Robertson separately commented on Matthew McConaughey's participation in the project. Interest in this issue arose due to the actor's activity in the field of AI: McConaughey collaborates with ElevenLabs, invests in the company, and also allowed his voice to be used for the company's generative models.
Robertson clarified that this contract is not related to Exodus. Players will hear McConaughey's real voice in the game, recorded in the studio, and not a synthesized version — generative lines were not used in the project and will not be used.
