Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier has filed a lawsuit against the popular gaming platform Roblox, accusing the company of creating an environment where adults can easily pretend to be children, contact minors, and involve them in dangerous interactions.
According to the lawsuit, investigators created accounts in the names of children aged 7, 8, and 10. All three accounts immediately gained access to thousands of games without parental approval, including games like Survive the Killer, Murder Your Friends, and experiences simulating Jeffrey Epstein's private island.
The state claims that predators use the platform to identify children, gain their trust, and transfer communication to applications like Discord, where they then force them to send explicit images. The lawsuit lists several cases in Florida where minors were groomed, kidnapped, or assaulted by adults they met on Roblox.
The Attorney General accuses Roblox of violating Florida's consumer protection laws and the federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), as the company collects data from children under 13 without verified parental consent.
