Techland has introduced the December update for Dying Light: The Beast with the Nightmare Experience difficulty.
Human enemies and the infected in this mode become more dangerous—they are smarter, more aggressive, and react faster to the player's actions. Resources are limited, and Volatiles can be encountered in the Dark Zones even during the day.
In addition, an Alpha Volatile has appeared—the strongest infected in Castor Woods and "the smartest in Dying Light history." It can smell the protagonist, ignores the ultraviolet light of the flashlight, and can chase the player across the map until they reach a safe zone or die.
Nightmare Experience also offers new survival mechanics. A hunger system appears, which affects stamina, health regeneration, and combat effectiveness.
The flashlight discharges over time, it will dim and flicker—players will have to find or create new light sources.
For completing the most difficult challenges at this difficulty level, the developers will reward exclusive items, including amulets, a costume, and a skin for transport.
