Blogger Markiplier has completed work on the film adaptation of David Szymanski's eerie project.
The film adaptation of the horror game Iron Lung, developed by David Szymanski, the creator of DUSK and Gloomwood, will be released in theaters on January 30, 2026.
The plot of the film adaptation, like the original game, unfolds in a post-apocalyptic universe where survivors send prisoners to explore an ocean of blood on a distant moon in search of resources. The main action focuses on a lone expedition to the depths in a sealed underwater capsule.
The director and lead actor is video blogger Mark Fischbach, known as Markiplier. The film also stars Sean McLoughlin ("Free Guy"), Carolyn Kaplan ("Orange Is the New Black") and Elle Lamont ("The Torture"). Rumor has it that David Szymanski himself may appear in a cameo.
The film's music was written by Andrew Hulshult, a composer known for his soundtracks to DUSK, Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods, Prodeus, Amid Evil, the remasters of Heretic and Hexen, and other shooters.
Currently, showings have been confirmed in more than a thousand theaters in the United States and Canada, but there is no information about international distribution yet. The timing of the digital release and release on streaming services has also not been announced.
