The new season will adapt the "Steel Ball Run" arc, dedicated to a large-scale horse race across the American continent.
Streaming service Netflix has announced that the anime "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run" will begin airing on March 19, 2026. The first 47-minute episode will be shown on the premiere day.
"Steel Ball Run" combines elements of a western, adventure action, and drama. The action will unfold in an alternate America of the late 19th century. The plot centers on a cross-continental race from San Diego to New York, organized by an eccentric millionaire. The winner is promised a prize of $50 million, but much more is at stake.
The main characters are Gyro Zeppeli, a mysterious rider who possesses a special technique for controlling steel balls, and Johnny Joestar, a former jockey confined to a wheelchair. Together they become involved in a conspiracy involving the interests of politicians, mercenaries, fanatics, and people with paranormal abilities.
Yasuhiro Kimura and Hideya Takahashi, who previously worked on "Golden Wind", are directing "Steel Ball Run". Toshiyuki Kato has been appointed as the chief director, and Yasuko Kobayashi ("Attack on Titan") wrote the script. david production is still in charge of production.
