Netmarble has published the Game of Thrones: Kingsroad update roadmap for 2026. In a developer note posted on Steam, the team summarized 2025 and talked about the key changes coming to the game in the coming months.
First of all, the developers will focus on improving the visuals. The game will feature reworked cutscenes, as well as general graphics improvements in certain regions, including the prologue and the "Beyond the Wall" location. In addition, the rework will affect visual effects during battles and when defeating enemies. According to the team, the goal of these changes is to more accurately convey the dark and brutal atmosphere of George R. R. Martin's original work and increase the level of immersion.
In parallel, the development of the weapon switching system in combat continues. When switching, a separate set of skills will be activated with its own slots and cooldown time. The developers note that after the system is implemented, the total number of available skills will increase significantly.
Among the content updates, a new multiplayer PvE mode is announced, which will take place in Harrenhal. It will focus on team play and strategic interaction between players without direct PvP. Details about the rules and structure of the mode are promised to be revealed later.
Also in 2026, the game will receive a fourth story chapter. The new story will begin with the hero's imprisonment in Casterly Rock under the rule of House Lannister and will become the starting point for new conflicts and plot forks.
In addition, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad will feature a full-fledged market system, allowing players to trade resources and materials, as well as quickly obtain the necessary items for character development.
In January, it is planned to expand the level of world difficulty — Hedge Knight III, for the opening of which 280,000 Momentum will be required. With the increase in difficulty, the chances of obtaining legendary equipment and rare materials will also increase.
In conclusion, the developers wished the players warm and joyful holidays, and also promised to continue listening to the community and take into account player feedback.
