Fresh data from SteamDB indicates a negative trend surrounding Battlefield 6.
After a strong start, the game's popularity has noticeably declined in recent weeks. In November, the online player count on Steam almost never dropped below 200,000 people and mostly stayed in the range of 230–250 thousand players.
In December, the situation began to noticeably worsen. For the first time since the release, the numbers dropped below 200,000, and the minimum was recorded on Christmas Eve. On December 24, at the worst moment, only 83,000 people were playing Battlefield 6 simultaneously — a sharp drop compared to the data from a month ago. The first weekend after the holidays brought a short-term increase to 125,000 players, but the overall downward trend remains obvious.
There are several reasons for the outflow. Some of the audience points to the quickly boring formula and the lack of new content, while others attribute the decline to dissatisfaction with the latest updates.
Balance issues, technical glitches, including menu errors and instances where shots are not registered in matches, as well as controversial changes in mechanics could have turned players away. As a result, many preferred to spend the holidays in other projects or completely outside the virtual battlefield.
