GeForce RTX Gets Superpowers: DLSS 4.5 to Increase Performance up to 6 Times

NVIDIA has officially unveiled DLSS 4.5 - a new stage in the development of Deep Learning Super Sampling technology, which increases FPS without losing image quality.

The developers reported:

DLSS 4.5 utilizes the second generation of the transformer model for Super Resolution, and is more than five times more performant than the original and trained on an expanded dataset. The effect is better lighting, sharper edges, a clear moving image, and high temporal stability.

The technology solves the problem of detail loss in high-contrast scenes, preserving color and shadows. Super Resolution is available on all GeForce RTX cards, but the maximum benefit is for RTX 40 and RTX 50, where the complex model can be run with almost no FPS loss.

The new Dynamic Multi Frame Generation feature allows for generating up to five additional frames for every traditionally rendered one, creating a maximum of 6× FPS. On RTX 50, this provides 240+ FPS with path tracing and fully unlocks the capabilities of 240–360 Hz monitors.

DLSS 4.5 also improves the game interface — minimaps and HUDs become clearer, which is noticeable in The Outer Worlds 2, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and Starfield. The update is already available via the NVIDIA App (beta), the full version will be released on January 13, and Dynamic and 6X modes for RTX 50 will appear in the spring.
